 ACCESS

Vitoria-Bilbao main road. From Vitoria, take the airport turn-off through to its intersection with the A2521 (please note, it is not the c6210, as shown wrongly on some maps). This road will take us directly to Gujuli. Shortly before the town there is a sign to reach the observation point.

Description

The Jaundia River, a tributary of the Altube on its way to the sea, plunges into the void from a limestone cliff, dropping over 100 metres and creating a stunning spectacle. The continuous erosion by water has gradually worn away the rocks, causing the cliff to retreat and form the current waterfall. The differing degrees of erosion resistance in the rock materials have shaped the stepped relief of the waterfall's walls.

In summer, the flow is low; the best times to see it are spring and autumn, when the surrounding oak and beech forests are cloaked in ochres, reds, and golds. There is a viewpoint from which to observe the waterfall, accessed via a path that branches off to the right from the A-2521 road before reaching Goiuri from Izarra.
