Located in Ezkio-Itsaso Igartubeiti is a homestead, unique in the Basque Country, which Gipuzkoa Provincial Government opened to the public as an exhibition space in the summer of 2001. Igartubeiti is an exponent of 16th and 17th century wooden architecture, a true reflection of the Golden Age of the Basque homestead.
Throughout the visit to the homestead we will see different items of furniture and tools, most of them made of wood, set out in line with their function.
It currently offers the possibility to once again see a complete press from the 16th century, offering demonstrations of cider production. Moreover, this homestead allows us to take in the smells of the pressed apple, of the herbs and the skins put out to dry, of the smoke; it takes us into the half-light of the kitchen and of the stable; our steps cause the wooden floor in the attic to squeak; in short, it takes us back to the way of living and working of our forefathers.
