Kurtxia Farmhouse is situated in the district of the same name, in the municipality of Ispáster, in the area of Lea-Artibai. Just two kilometres from Lekeitio, it is the main village in the Lea-Artibai area and is also very close to the Urdaibai area; these two areas combine very different yet complementary features, one being related to the sea and the other to the land. The building, which has been reformed to cater for visitors, maintains the architectural and historical features of the time; there are records of its existence at the beginning of the 17th century. It nests in an unusual landscape in which the sea and the mountains blend to form a singular natural environment in which farmhouses are typical buildings scattered to form a common, particular feature of the landscape. The great variety of the landscape and the heritage, together with the tranquillity and restfulness of the area make for unique surroundings. From the viewing points you can penetrate the rough, noble waters of the Cantabrian sea, splashed with the lively colours of its boats in their constant comings and goings to and from the shelter of the harbour. The building will give the visitor the chance to spend some time in contact with nature and become soaked in the atmosphere of tradition and culture in its purest form, in warm, cosy country spaces.
