El Portalón is one of the most prestigious restaurants in the Álava capital, and also one of the oldest. It is located in the old district, in a building constructed between the 15th and 16th centuries, with Renaissance, Gothic and Mudejar characteristics, at which time it was an inn for merchants.
It has six dining rooms, four of them private, where we can enjoy the best traditional cuisine and exquisite dishes prepared with high quality raw materials, including beans, snails and perretxikos or mushrooms, which are typical of Álava. Moreover, El Portalón has a wine cellar with an excellent range of Riojas, which, when possible, is open to diners, allowing them to select the bottles themselves.
